A great new update for Google Apps for Business users – Gmail and Google Docs now offers, beyond the language support capabilities already available, handwriting input! Whether you’re a student using Google Apps for Education taking a foreign language class, or you’re part of an organization that has offices overseas, Gmail and Docs new handwriting input allows you to write single or multiple characters at once!

Handwriting input is now available in Google Docs for over 20 language and in over 50 languages for Gmail, including Japanese, Chinese, Hindi and Russian!

To use the handwriting input function, you need to first enable input tools in Gmail or Docs. Here’s our shortened version of how to do it, taken from The Next Web:

  1. Click the gear icon in the top right corner

  2. Go to “Settings”

  3. In the “General” tab, select “Enable input tools” (under “Language”)

  4. In the “Input Tools settings” window that appears, double-click the input tool you want from the “Alll input tools” section to move to the “Selected input tools” section

  5. Save your changes!
