Connecting the frontline workers
Large companies face unique challenges when onboarding, tasking, and communicating with frontline workers. Whether it’s a hotel chain, a major retailer, or a manufacturer, managers are often in the dark on precisely how efficient their frontline workforces are. Managing the process effectively, day in and day out, has direct bottom-line implications.
Enter WorkJam, a digital frontline workplace that connects frontline workers to broader corporate culture through an intuitive and social media-like app. “We enable the frontline to be easily onboarded, trained, and tasked,” says Louise Clements, Global Chief Marketing Officer at WorkJam. “Intuitive capabilities within our SaaS product are able to reflect workflows that change from one customer to another.”
WorkJam lets companies leverage existing workforce management platforms through the app, enhancing aspects of employee engagement and workforce management. Frontline workers can change their shifts, for example, while training tools offer a sense of career progression and improved compliance and security. “WorkJam is synonymous with employee empowerment,” adds Jody Mitiche, VP of Cloud Operations. “It’s a self-service tool to mobilize accessibility and enable that work-life balance that the often-forgotten frontline workers so desperately need.”
Business challenge
Seeking a cloud partner to support rapid scaling
The pandemic accelerated demand for digital workplace solutions. Ever since, WorkJam has been scaling and onboarding more customers. “We wanted to be prepared for growth from a cloud and security standpoint,” says Mitiche. “That required a strategic reorganization and a different way of leveraging our cloud platforms.”
WorkJam was also actively pursuing GenAI advancements, only possible in the cloud. “We were committed to developing and delighting our customers within the cloud framework,” explains Clements. “It’s the natural evolution of any successful SaaS company to step into the marketplace.”
As an existing Google Cloud customer, WorkJam wanted to connect with their customers in Google Cloud Marketplace. “We had a very reliable cloud architecture and infrastructure in place,” says Mitiche. “Google Cloud is one of our major partners and we will continue to evolve from a technology and cloud standpoint.”
WorkJam was seeking to accelerate the migration onto the Google Cloud Marketplace. With key staff focused on business development, they sought an outside partner with deeper Google Cloud Marketplace integration know-how to smooth the transition. They reached out to SADA, based on its track record of success in the Google Cloud ecosystem.
Solution
In overseeing WorkJam’s Google Cloud Marketplace integration, SADA brought three distinct professional specialties to the table:
- A project manager to set the timeline and budget, while ensuring frictionless communication
- A marketplace engineer, who built and deployed best practice code for cloud marketplace integrations
- A solution architect tasked with architectural oversight, project scoping, and escalation support
“SADA served as the coach for our team,” explains Mitiche. “SADA’s professionals understood what was required in order for us to pass muster with Google Cloud Marketplace so that we didn’t have to go back and redo things.”
Throughout the engagement, SADA’s experts provided WorkJam with in-depth knowledge and consultative best practices around Google Cloud Marketplace, assisted in the process of publishing the marketplace listing by providing step-by-step guidance, and leveraged SADA’s unique relationship and insights with Google Cloud to expedite the process.
“We were really pleased with the level of organization and the internal Google Cloud Marketplace knowledge of the SADA team,” says Clements. “The SADA professionals were super organized and knew how to structure our answers, which sped up our ability to hit that Google Cloud Marketplace approval deadline by weeks.”
Tailoring upskilling to team members
To expedite the marketplace process, SADA tailored training for the Google Cloud Marketplace interface, the SADA tools, and the private offer workflow to fit the unique requirements of different WorkJam departments.
“SADA helped to upskill our team members on Google Cloud Marketplace processes and tools by providing customized training for each major business function,” explains Marc-André Dupéré, CFO at WorkJam.
For example, SADA offered WorkJam’s finance team dedicated training on the tool functionalities and processes that were finance-related, while they worked with the marketing and sales teams on a separate training protocol relevant to their processes.
This training focused on how the different business functions would utilize the tools, which helped WorkJam prioritize and enhance time-to-value.
“SADA enabled our teams to maximize the value of their time spent upskilling and ask targeted questions to the SADA marketplace experts related to their respective functions,” says Will Eadie, Chief Revenue Officer at WorkJam.
Accelerating account registration
SADA designed their Account Registration and Order Management application to onboard clients to Google Cloud Marketplace at an accelerated pace. SADA guided WorkJam through the application, ensuring it satisfied all marketplace requirements for collecting order information, approving incoming entitlement requests, and viewing customer information.
“Because of SADA’s application framework, there was zero technical lift required from the WorkJam team,” explains Eadie. “This allowed our engineering teams to focus on our product and not lose cycles attempting to research and develop applications to complete our Google Cloud Marketplace integration, and ultimately fast-track our ability to launch our product.”
Testing the purchase process, developing a pricing plan
To prepare WorkJam for their live listing, where customers would purchase their SaaS product, WorkJam Digital Frontline Workplace, in Google Cloud Marketplace, SADA walked WorkJam through a test purchase process to gauge how the end-to-end functionality of the WorkJam-marketplace integration performed.
“The test purchase process worked just as we hoped,” recalls Eadie. “It was helpful to see the end-to-end functionality during our engagement to understand our clients’ user experience during the transactions.”
Additionally, SADA and WorkJam developed the required pricing plan to submit to Google Cloud for approval. “We built a pricing model that adapted our offline pricing model to the parameters of what’s possible in Google Cloud Marketplace,” says Dupéré. “SADA was able to guide us to use the right pricing models that maximized flexibility and the user experience.”
Impact
Connecting the frontline, leveraging the power of the cloud
As a result of working with SADA on their Google Cloud Marketplace integration, WorkJam was able to win Google Cloud approval and launch their live listing within five weeks.
“Our Google Cloud Marketplace integration was nice and smooth,” says Clements. “SADA’s ability to understand who from WorkJam was required to collaborate—and when—meant no one from our side had to attend unnecessary meetings. The whole process was extremely efficient, considering we’re all super busy running a massive scale up of our business.”
By listing in Google Cloud Marketplace, WorkJam is now leveraging the power of the cloud to drive adoption among customers with frontline workforces who are in critical need of modern connectivity tools.
“Frontline workers are the most vulnerable in our society,” says Mitiche. “So it gives us great pleasure to know that in Google Cloud Marketplace we are both supporting and enabling the large enterprises that employ frontline workers, but also giving them that opportunity to overcome economic vulnerability.”
Overall, by teaming up with SADA on their Google Cloud Marketplace integration, WorkJam:
- Launched their listing in five weeks, in time for a critical corporate event
- Effectively trained different departments on marketplace functionalities relevant to their specialties
- Brought data-driven insights and increased productivity to frontline-dependent customers via the marketplace
The SADA team provided the prescriptive guidance that we needed to get onto Google Cloud Marketplace. We would not have accelerated as quickly as we did without their ability to integrate and engage our team at every level.”
