Matthew Bates

Matt Bates brings more than 20 years of leadership in finance, operations and technology to the Zenoss executive team. As chief financial officer at Zenoss, Matt is responsible for the company’s finance, legal and employee success departments.

Prior to joining Zenoss, Matt spent 17 years at Rackspace, where he performed various leadership roles across numerous departments, including finance, corporate development, operations, human resources and federal government. Most recently, he served as interim chief financial officer, chief transformation officer, chief operating officer, Americas, and general manager of Rackspace Government Solutions. He played a key role in the company’s IPO in 2008 and their $4.4 billion go-private transaction to Apollo Global Management in 2016. Prior to Rackspace, Matt was an investment banker in North America and Asia for Deutsche Bank, concentrating on equity-based IPOs as well as mergers and acquisitions.

Matt grew up in the Seattle area and holds an MBA in management from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s degree in international relations and business from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Matt and his wife Kerstin, have six children, whom they nurture, along with chickens and fruit trees, on a small farm outside of San Antonio.
